The life projects of schoolchildren are complex constructions that are created and recreated in the human life, it includes projections of studying in higher education. In this sense, this article aims to understand how the life projects of young and adult students of some Alternative Basic Education Centers in the Arequipa-Peru region are built, and how to study in higher education is part of these life decisions. For this, a focus group was used with students, interview directed to directors and documentary record of six state schools. The results reveal that students have many wanderings of their future; The occupational options are the classic university careers and short courses, and they have not incorporated in their projects the entrepreneurial approach despite assuming the importance of the study and have references to entrepreneurs, family and professionals. Finally, it is concluded that it is necessary to improve the educational orientation processes through a model that combines vision, mission, foresight and action, being the nucleus the project of individual and social life of these students.
