Abstract
This article analyzes the life of the andalusian Alonso de Luque-first notary of the city of Arequipa-, to gradually achieve a privileged social position through the exercise of political and economic power and configure a family network in the Arequipa elite. The character is studied in his notarial activity and his participation in the "civil wars" between the conquerors, his facet as encomendero of the divisions of Chiguata and Chuquibamba, and the administration of his properties in the valleys of Vítor, Majes and Camaná are examined. Finally, his mayor's career in different municipal positions held are revealed.
