Resumen

The low adherence to medical treatments is recognized as a problem with different edges worldwide. Failure to follow the treatment extends the patient’s recovery period which implies additional expenses for both the patient or the government when it refers to public health. There are many factors that influence this problem and there are also many strategies, one of them being the support of the family that ensures that the treatment is fulfilled. Today there are specialized voice assistants in the market with specialized clinical features but high cost. In this context, this work shows the initial stage of a low-cost Automated Voice Assistant that provides automatic reminders to patients about their medical treatment: name of medication, schedule and quantity. Our proposal makes use of Google Home Mini and Raspberry Pi 3. The first stage of our work demonstrates the feasibility of device programming and autonomous operation.
