Interculturality in higher education is a problem that is perceived in the National University of San Agustin de Arequipa Peru, where students from different regions of the south of the country are concentrated, from Apurímac, Cusco and Puno mainly; The study aims to identify the most significant characteristics of ethnic groups different to the conventional one, which because of their minority status tend to be diluted, as in most Latin American universities, there are no policies for intercultural treatment. The methodology applied is qualitative, transversal with ethnographic perspective, focused group techniques and in-depth interviews were applied. In the results, it was possible to identify ethnic groups such as Chancas, Qorilazos, Kanas and Ccollas, from regions adjacent to the Arequipa region, who point out that these minority sectors are invisible to the political decisions of the institution. We conclude, that cultural diversity from the perspective of higher education in Arequipa is progressively diluted, so it is necessary to propose alternatives that affirm cultural identities.
