Resumen

Manual dexterity problems prevent the performance of activities of daily living. To recover functionality, patients must undergo rehabilitation processes that involve specific and repetitive exercises that must be performed in specialized centers. This paper presents the development of a non-immersive virtual rehabilitation system for the improvement of manual dexterity; that can be used as a complement for the rehabilitation process at home. The system was implemented with the Leap Motion Controller optical tracking device for movement capture. The usability of the system was evaluated by four children with motor deficiencies with the “User Satisfaction Evaluation Questionnaire” instrument. The results showed values above the average in all the questions, the system not being immersive and being low cost, it is shown as a viable rehabilitation alternative for manual dexterity in homes.
