title = "The generalized theory of granular packings as a model for studying the portland cement and concrete behavior",
abstract = "A generalized theory of granular packings is proposed, which takes into account the texture and shape of particles, the structural gradation of fractions, and the diffuse double layer of fine particles. Likewise, a mechanism of stress transmission in this discontinuous substance is proposed, showing up that the failure of a cylindrical specimen under axial compression is caused by the internal lateral tensile stress, in regard to the test results. As an application of these theories, the concrete behavior is studied, admitting a topochemical process of cement hydration, at the end of the dormant period, characterized by a plastic state.",
